tricks and treats part3

Over the weekend, Jenn and I attended our friend Cecilia's annual costume extravaganza. We called it "Magic Trick Gone Bad."

Well, here is the last group of costumed vixens for your viewing pleasure. Happy Halloween!

tricks and treats

The other day I began drawing a girl in a halloween costume. Don't really know why, just felt like it. And of course she had to have a friend so I drew another one. Before I knew it, I had sketched out quite a few. And now I have a complete set of 12.

So instead of stashing 'em away to never see the light of day again, which is what usually happens during one of my artistic whims, I decided to see what a couple of them would look like all "illustratored" out. That's a word, right?

I think I've got the momentum to finish them all, maybe even add some kind of background or whatever. Here's hoping I can finish it before next Tuesday. Why next Tuesday you ask? Because that's when Halo 3 drops. And once I get my hands on that precious little disc you'll be damn lucky to see me post here again sometime before next spring. Okay, that's a lie. I do have some self-control. Okay, that's another lie.

illustration friday: momentum

Looks like it's been exactly six months since I last participated in an illfriday theme. Figured I'd get back into the swing of things by trying something a bit different. My weapon of choice has always been Illustrator, but I've also been quite fascinated and frustrated with what Flash has to offer. So I thought I'd give that program another shot. Though it feels like everything I've ever learned with Illustrator had to be thrown right out the window. As if I'm learning to draw all over again, but with my left butt cheek. After a few hours of fumbling around, I think I've stumbled onto something quite refreshing. Stay tuned for more experimental goodness and mishaps.

ringo

It was a shock for me to hear that Mike Wieringo passed away over the weekend. Though we never had the chance to meet in person, I was always humbled and grateful that he found the time to send me his compliments and words of encouragement and advice through the message boards we both frequented as well as our blogs. His work will continue to be an inspiration to me. His presence in the art community will surely be missed.

comic-con 07 aftermath

Another year, another Comic-Con. It was busier than ever but worth the extreme exhaustion. As usual, I didn't get much of a chance to wander far from my table. So here's a modest amount of flicks for your viewing pleasure.

Noel, Jenn, and I at the table.

The question of the day was "Can Cailee fit inside a WB bag and be carried around by Miguel?" The answer was yes.

Daniel Davis stops by looking a bit different from what I remember.

The secret of my success? Booth babes, of course.

Jenn out "robots" C3PO.

Alberto, Francisco, and I at the Brandstudio table.

And a few of this years sketches:

The rest of the flicks can be seen here.

A big freakin' "Thank You!" to all of you who stopped by. Until next!

comic-con 07

The almighty Comic-Con is just around the corner, once again, and I'll be exhibiting for the fifth year in a row. So if you plan on attending make sure to stop by and say hi. I'll have quite a few new prints as well as my new book for sale. You'll find me at (D6) next to our long time neighbors at DunceCap, Tim Wollweber and Dan Almanzar. For the next week or so I'll be frantically getting ready for the big event while in the midst of all the Harry Potter madness that seems to be packed into this crazy month. Looks like my wife, Jenn, will have the first go on the final instalment as I'll have to wait till after the con to lock myself away and quietly absorb all that awaits in The Deathly Hallows. So keep your spoilers to yourself, please, unless you want to witness me cry like a little schoolgirl as my fists make love to your face in the worst possible way imaginable.

For a list of must-see folks at the Con, check out John Nevarez's list. And check out the list of people from the Drawing Board.
