illustration friday: tea
A Long Island Iced Tea, that is. Weapon of choice for those of us who wish to get faded with the quickness. Though the feeling of invincibility after the third one rocks, the feeling of waking up face-down on the front lawn doesn't rock.

behold!
My flaming sword of fire! It's 3 in the morning. Sleepy yet hungry is my new high. Must satisfy cravings before I lose consciousness.

girl that is super
It's been awhile since I've drawn a "Super." So when Tom, over at Blueone, asked to see more super heroes, I jumped at the chance. I just needed a break away from my projects and my powerbook. I've always drawn Supergirl in her white top/blue skirt Superman Animated incarnation. So I thought I'd try out her most recent fit. And no, I don't mean I actually put on her costume and modeled it in front of a mirror. Or do I?
I've also finally gotten around to an idea for a banner and background for Jenn's blog, based off of my own. I think our blogs make a nice pair.
And in honor of Presidents Day, here's a few words of wisdom from our Commander in Chief.

This was my Valentine's gift to Jenn this year. An illustration of me proposing to her with the lyrics to "Question," a song by Old 97's.

shower
An illustration I did for our wedding shower invitations. It's going to be a sunday brunch hosted by Jenn's family, which I might add, is a family of awesome chef's and caterers. It's gonna be some damn good eating. Must bring stretchy pants.

cover noodles
A couple of concepts for childern's book covers I'm working on at the moment. They won't be used, but they did turn out pretty good. It gave me an excuse to mess around with layouts and compositions. And the project is also forcing me to draw animals which hasn't been one of my strong points. That and vehicles. And architecture. Who am I kidding? If it doesn't have breasts, I'm pretty much useless at times. But I sure am working on it.
It was bound to happen sooner or later. For your viewing pleasure, Brokeback to the Future. Editing at its finest.
Check out Patrick Morgan's Whaleboy vinyl-toy prototype. It's tight as hell. He'll be exhibiting at WonderCon this weekend. I'll be missing it this year on account of not living in the area anymore. So do me a favor and also check out Howard Shum, Alberto Ruiz, and Daniel Davis. All cool folks, all cool art.

drawing jam: corinna
Finally gotten around to participating in a Drawing Jam over at DrawingBoard.org. They always seem to find some awesome photo references. It's a great way to warm-up during a creative block.
If you haven't seen this already, you're missing out on pure genius. That or pure, unabridged, ridiculous insanity. You decide. Either way it's cracked-out entertainment. And I, for one, am definitely hooked on this feeling. It's the man, the myth, the legend... The Hoff. Now I know why he's king in Germany. Ooga chakka.

illustration friday: chair
This is a variation of an illo I did a few months back. I've changed the background numerous times but I still haven't found the right fit. Until then, these funky default orange circles will have to do.
In other more solemn news, the comic book world lost a very creative and imaginative artist.
Seth Fisher, whose work included "Vertigo Pop: Tokyo," "The Flash: Time Flies," and the mind-blowing "Green Lantern: Willworld," has passed away. Such a shocking and sudden loss of an artist whose potential had only begun. His unique style and vision will never be equalled. My sincerest condolences goes out to his family and friends. If you have a moment, visit his website, Flowering Nose.
