paint

It's been awhile since I picked up a paintbrush so I thought I'd get back into the swing of things with a small painting. Acrylic on wood, 11.5"x8.5". I'm pretty satisfied with how it turned out, but I know I can do more. Not a bad warm-up for the two longboard decks I'll be painting for an upcoming tiki show in June. Time for me to get crackin, so keep posted!

Looks great! The colours suit the warmth of the wood and the line work is impecible.

I find it is really nice to work with something tangible, like wood. Being able to see AND hold a finished 'thing' is a great feeling. Also, it is much easier to hang a piece of wood or canvas should you want to. I can't tell you how many iBooks I've gone through that way, the suckers just don't like drills...

That's beautiful! Very nice also how you got the shading and the lines perfect. I only took 1 semester of painting, and I know technique takes practise! But you inspired me to definitely paint with real paints again one day =)

Yeh nice! The blue really brings forth the grain of the wood, gives it a nice earthy feel or somethin... the illustration as always is the bees knees. Dare I too pick up a brush after so long? My wacom would be mighty pissed!
