in loving memory

Last night we lost a very special and precious part of our little family. Spike, our baby cocker spaniel, past away. His curious and rebellious nature got the best of him as he tried to explore our parents backyard pond. By the time my sister found him, it was too late.

It was only a few months ago, in June, when Jenn and I first saw him. He was tiny and scared, but it past as Jenn held him on the way home. He even ventured off to sit on my lap as I drove, curiously looking up at the steering wheel. Even trying to drive himself. We named him Spike, after the vampire from the Buffy and Angel series.

We made our new home in San Diego, a few weeks later. Spike was as rambunctious and daring as any little boy would be. He constantly wrestled his older brother, Kinno. And you can see it in his eyes when he was about to make trouble. A notorious panty thief, anything that wasn't nailed down would find its way into his mouth. He was my little shadow who followed me everywhere and wouldn't leave my side. I would, on occasion, accidentally lock him in the bathroom from not noticing that he would follow me in. And since I like to work late at night, he would wait with me until I was done before heading upstairs to bed. He was also our little alarm clock. He just couldn't wait to wake us up to get the day started. He was affectionate and loving, and made the short time he was with us one of the most happiest times of our lives.

Spike, you were the best puppy two loving people could ever have. I hope you know how much we love you and how thankful we are to have had you in our lives. You will never be forgotten. You will always be missed. You will always be loved.

I'm so sorry! He looks like he was such a sweet, sweet little guy. I feel sad for you...I know how animal friends become such a part of a family. Those are lovely pictures you shared of your little family.

A beautiful life taken away in such a short time. Im sure he was loved as much as he loved. My heart broke when I read about your loss. I feel your pain, in the past I've lost loved animals. He probably is up in puppy heaven being al naughty running around, looking down and watching you and thanking life for giving him a wonderful family that took him in their arms and blessed him with love and joy.

Sad to hear for your lost. I remember when y'all first picked him up from the airport...the little fella was playful and filled with energy. Spike brought smiles to folks and kept Big K up and about. Such a shame he had to go in a short time. My condolence to Haya Fam.

May spike rest in peace. Although I only knew him for a short period of time I could tell he was a sweet loving dog with a curious spirit. I'm sorry Erwin and Jenn, I know he wasnt just a pet, but part of your family.

I know how much you both loved Spike and what happened to him is such a tragedy. I'm sure it's difficult to feel anything but pain right now but I really do believe Spike's short time here was well spent because of the all the love you both gave him.

One of my favorite memories of Spike was how much he enjoyed chillin on the beige leather couch upstairs in U.C. Spike was such a hy-fy little pup he would mess with Kinno to the point where the old boy would lose his patience.

I am deeply sorry for your family's loss. May God bless you all (Spike, Kinno, Jenn, Erwin, & Gunther) during this difficult time.

Oh this is so sad. I'm so sorry to hear it. What a beautiful little puppy, and a terribletragedy. My heart goes out to you and your family. It's devastating to lose a part of your family like that. Even if he was so "new" those buggers grab onto your heart right away don't they? R.I.P Spike.

awwww, sorry to hear the news. he was such a cute little guy. i use to have a cocker spaniel myself when i was growing up and we had to give him away when my little sister was born because he got soo angry and jealous of her getting all the attention, so we had to give him away. it was a horrible day for me, so i know how you guys feel. take care and sorry for your loss.

i'm so sorry to hear about spike. he was such a cute and playful puppy. i know how hard it must be for you to suffer an unexpected loss of a close pet. it happened to me twice in a row. when you love and care for them so much they really become a part of your family. i hope you're hangin in there. at least we have the good memories ...God bless...

Aww, that's so sad and sweet. My puppy is getting on 13 years old and I worry about her passing on occasion. She's been with me through everything.

:o(

Poor Spike. What a sweet tribute.

Oh, I'm so sorry for your loss. I finally know what it's like to love an animal as though they actually were of your own flesh and blood, but I could never imagine what it would be like to lose them in such a way. God will Bless Spike and he will watch over all the other young Spikes like him.

It's my biggest fear, losing my "girl" of 18 years!! I'm so sorry about spike I know how much a dog can mean...and how much you must have loved him.

I'm thankful everyday I still have my girl.
